The Indonesia Visa index E33G, also called the Remote Worker Visa, grants a one year temporary stay in Indonesia, facilitating remote work for companies based outside the country.
This visa is perfect for experienced slow-living digital nomads who want to find a new location or prolong their current stay without impacting their work.
What Foreigners Can Do
- Live in Indonesia for an extended period while working remotely for a foreign company or as a freelancer.
- Conduct online business or freelance work targeting clients outside Indonesia.
- Enjoy Indonesia’s lifestyle, culture, and amenities while legally residing.
- Travel freely within Indonesia and return without reapplying for a visa, depending on visa type.
What Foreigners Cannot Do
- Work for or be employed by an Indonesian company.
- Generate income from Indonesian clients or businesses.
- Establish a business or seek permanent employment locally.
- Engage in illegal activities or work outside the scope of the visa terms.
- Sponsor other individuals for immigration or residency purposes.
Visa Validity
The Remote Worker Visa is valid for 1 year. You must use this visa within 90 days of its issue date.
Document Requirements
- Passport that is valid for at least 6 (six) months.
- A recent colour photograph.
- Personal bank statement showing a minimum equivalent amount of USD $2000. The statement must cover the last 3 months and include your name, the date, and the account balance.
- Proof of annual income of an amount equivalent to 60,000 USD.
- Remote work contract with a foreign company.
- Certificate of incorporation of employing company.Incorporation certificate for the employing company.

FAQ
Can the remote worker visa allow digital nomads to work in Indonesia?
Yes, digital nomads can work in Indonesia, but with limitations. E33G visa holders are only authorised to work for companies registered outside of Indonesia and cannot receive income from any Indonesian entity or individual.
Can I extend my remote worker KITAS after one year?
The Remote Worker KITAS E33G is valid for a single year and cannot be renewed. To continue your stay in Indonesia, you must close your current KITAS before its expiration, leave the country, and apply for a new one.
Can I exit and re-enter Indonesia using Remote Worker Visa?
It’s technically possible. The Remote Worker Visa is a KITAS category, letting you apply for a MERP (Multiple Exit Re-entry Permit) at the same time. For more information on the process, it is advisable to seek guidance from a professional visa consultant.
